nb2000: photo of a leather covered book with heavy metal fastenings lying on a wooden floor and surrounded by bits of material (Default)

So for a while I've had this...thing, this piece of description lurking in my head. I'd considered writing it down but never got around to it. Then my friend [livejournal.com profile] ameseynrose insisted (rather loudly) that I post SOMETHING here and well, I couldn't really think of anything else so this weird (at least to me) piece of description will have to do. I have no explanation for where this thing came from, my mind is a strange, strange place to be.

Darkness, broken only by the few flickering lights from candelabras spaced out along the corridor. Heavy velvet folds covered the rest of the walls, pooling on the dark marble floor. The rippling hem of her white silk dress floated across the darkness as she moved down the hall, the fabric wrapped tight around her shoulders and knotted in the front, her golden hair hung in perfect waves around her oval face, a ghost in the surrounding gloom. The marble chilled her bare feet as she walked, moving with effortless grace, into a wider room. Her smoky, kohl-rimmed eyes looked around the room, her dark red lips frowning in confusion. She moved towards the heavy wooden table in the centre of the room, her pale arm raising, reaching for the heavy pewter-stemmed goblet that stood in the middle of the table, slender fingers barely brushed against its golden bowl before it tumbled across the table towards the floor. Her breathy gasp echoed around the empty room, tinged by the ring of the goblet hitting the floor, its rich red contents spilling out across the cold marble floor.

And that's your lot.
